Muktinath A place to be...

On March 2005 I was in Kathmandu.I had a semester break. With some good freinds we make a 10 day Tour to Muktinath. The Tour was orangized from Pranil from Everesttravel

It was on holi, a Colorfulfestival in Nepal. We have a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara at afternoon. We didnot fly on time. 2 hours delay on Kathmandu Domestic Airport.

It was my first domestic flight in Nepal. It was really good with the old machine flying high over the Himalaya. During the Flight the Airhostess was asking for one friend of mine. He was called from the captain. The Captain and ujjwal went to school together. Ujjwal have pretty good time sitting on cockpit watching the Himalya view. We arrive around 6 P.M to Pokhara. It was a lovely 20 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara.

After arrriving in Pokhara, We came to know that the next flight which we taken next morning to Jomsom have some technical Problem and may be it wouldnot fly next morning from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We wished that the problem will be solved & we will fly next morning to Jomsom.

We Went to the hotel near lakeside. The location of the hotel was pretty good. As we checked our room, we have seen from our hotel window that something is going to happen. Poeple are shouting & running. It was holi festival and people used to play with colors and water. Someone throw the colors to one guy and he was angry & there is going to happend a small gang fight, which is normal now a days in Nepal. After few minutes Police Van arrived and they took the guys with them.

Next morning we went to the Pokhara Airport but our flight didnot come from Kathmandu.There is no possilbility to take another flight as it was already full booked. You couldnot fly after 10:00 A.M to Jomsom due to the high speed wind.so we came back to our hotel. In Airport we met two friends from Kathmandu, who were also on the way to Muktinath.

We have to stay one more night in Pokhara. Next morning we fly to Jomsom. We stayed at Jomsom Mountain Resort.

I have met my school friend Akil who is running a Hotel Alka Marcopolo in jomsom after a long period of time. We stayed one night in Jomson Resort. WE have a gala time there.

Next morning we left for Muktinath. For Hindu & Buddhist it is a Holy place. There wasnot so much Tourist due to the Maoist problem in Nepal. On the way We have seen 2-3 small groups only. It takes us about 10 hours walk to reached our next hotel. We stayed one night there. I was very much Suprised that even on the top of the Mountain they have electricity & telephone....

Next morning we went to visit the Muktinath temple... As the temple was closed we have to wait for a while outside the temple. There was an Indain Toursit group flying from Pokhara directly to the Muktinath temple.. The temple door was opened finally.

We visit the temple. It was a nice feeling.. We came back on the same day to our hotel in Jomsom. Stay for one night and next morning we fly back to Pokhara.

Me, Ujjwal & Manish stay for 2 nights more in Pokhara. On the evening MAnish took us to the Steak Restaurant. well the Steak was very tasty, Manish..

On our last day we hire a bike and drive to the David fall....

Well next mornig we have a flight back to Kathmandu.
